New York runs its own state-based Marketplace, NY State of Health, instead of using the federal HealthCare.gov exchange. You can browse ACA plans there, but a licensed agent can compare those on-exchange options against private (off-exchange) plans you will not find on the state site.
The enhanced premium tax credits that lowered ACA premiums through 2025 expired at the end of that year, so for 2026 many middle-income households now pay the full, unsubsidized price on the exchange. New York has expanded Medicaid, so households with lower incomes may qualify for Medicaid, while those above the subsidy range often do better on a private, off-exchange plan.
